About Us
Giovanni Siciliano has a name that was made for the Italian food industry. Affectionately called "the Don" of Philly Stromboli, Giovanni's career in the food industry had decidedly humble beginnings. 30 years ago Debbie and Giovanni were married, and had no idea that they would own a string of successful Italian food businesses in Philadelphia and Bucks County.
Debbie, formerly a trained lab technician, now oversees their thriving business in Feasterville, PA, just north of Philadelphia, with the matronly air of "chief mother hen". Little did she realize that the scientific exactness of a lab would prepare her for the slavish accuracy required to make a great scone, bread, and cake.
Giovanni's former work in heavy construction with Dupont ended abruptly with a back injury. Giovanni decided he wanted to open his own Italian restaurant, but his early "training" found him instead stuck in the back of pizza joint washing dishes. After paying his dues Giovanni and Debbie were able to open their own place at the Oxford Circle in Philadelphia. Next they opened a restaurant on Castor Avenue which eventually grew to a 3,000 square foot eatery. The restaurant in Philadelphia was a 14 year labor of love. Along the way Giovanni essentially launched the Stromboli craze we see all around Philadelphia. Thus, Giovanni has been dubbed “the Don”. When you get "made" by Stromboli you know you are doing something right!
After 14 years in the full service restaurant business in Philadelphia Debbie and Giovanni felt it was time for something new. But a move to Bucks County left them craving the classic Italian dishes and bustle of their former business. Before long “Don Giovanni’s Classic Bakery” was born on 3540 Street Road in Feasterville, PA. The new challenge of a business focused as much on baking as cooking required sharpened skills. With the help and support from special people like Cindy, Jesse, and Magdelena, the top-notch baking standards of Don Giovanni’s Classic Bakery are clearly evident. Cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, brownies, cannolis… you name it, they do it, and they do it very well.
"The Don" and Debbie love the more personal setting and family atmosphere of their Classic Bakery, and you can taste that "love" in every bite. From the monster steak stromboli for $14 that will feed 5 with ease, to the hearty Italian soups, to cannolis that literally fill a full plate... and the cakes of all shapes flavors and sizes... there is value, quality, and authenticity that can not be denied.
